Kathy’s Makeover Magic!!! July 2011

I had so much fun styling a fantastic new client this past week, sweet Kathy! We shared lunches and laughter, gasped at deals, AND reveled in cheap & chic success checking out Dallas’ best consignment venues for designer deals and steals! What “finds” did we score?? Could you imagine WHAT happened to Kathy during this Make Over adventure??

Hint: Kathy received world class help from the Paul Neinast Salon!!!Our Make Over adventure began at the Clotheshorse Anonymous, and as you will soon see; the fun journey ended with picture perfect results thanks to the hands of the truly inimitable Paul Neinast from Neinast Salon.

After the initial consultation with Kathy, Paul concluded, “Her hair was ‘suburban’,” and that she “usually opted for a trim with no color and no pizazz!”

“Her hair had a little wave and lots of white. Even though she desired change, her husband favored Kathy’s white streaks and didn’t want to see them go. I decided to blend golden brown highlights & blonde chunks with her natural color and white streaks to give her skin a pop! As we get older, we lose skin color pigment and need to be ‘popped’ with hair color to brighten the skin and take years off one’s appearance.”Paul expertly cut Kathy’s hair in a very becoming shoulder length Sassoon shag with lots of beveling around her face. Kathy’s ‘on the go’ cut can quickly blow dry just using her fingers (as she reported to me this morning)! Using a round brush while drying or velcro rollers will result in a more “finished” look.

The Make Over magic rose to a crescendo as Paul fashioned lovely Kathy into a fully fabulous fashionista! (Can’t wait for Paul to work his magic on me too!) He brushed soft smoky eyes on a neutral brown and gold palette, brushed cheeks with a perfectly peachy blush, and finished with luscious lips done a la nude.

Kathy is radiant, adorable, and has bloomed so splendidly!!! Do you LOVE her new look???

She’s nautically inspired and ready for the Fourth in this wonderful mix of red, white and blue all purchased from the Clotheshorse Anonymous! The Worth jacket was snagged for $40 and will definitely serve as a “go to” piece for Kathy thru September! Lafayette 148 pants were a deal at $50. Catch a glimpse of the super comfy and colorful Kate Spade loafers for $36. All these items would retail for approximately four times as much. Thank you, Julie H., for your fantastic assistance!!! :)

We adored the svelte tailoring and fit of this versatile Jenny denim jacket and skirt snagged at Rethreads for $225! These two pieces would retail for approximately $750 and up! The Italian red patent bag was $80 and would retail for approximately $400 and up. Red strappy sandals for $35 and Kathy’s own white tee completed her spotlight worthy new look! She’s a tres talented jewelry designer (Love!) and is wearing one of her fabulous necklaces. www.ofearth.etsy.com! We so enjoyed Kevin’s impeccable “client service” at Rethreads!

Meet Kelly Von Sassy Pants!!! Spring 2012

Meet Kelly Bennett, well known as “Von Sassy Pants”, this sassy writer experienced “Mommy Makeover Mania” with Paul Neinast, the Vintage Martini, and me for Grand Luxe Magazine! What did Kelly Bennett, loving wife, busy mom, AND writer extraordinaire first do when she landed her new writing gig???

Von Sassy and I visited about her “grand” opportunity and about injecting an exciting dose of fashionista flair into her life. She wanted to feel and project her best and most beautiful self. Here she is at the start of our adventure!!!

 The Closet!
Kelly shops occasionally for easy pieces that suit her easy going lifestyle and hectic schedule. She works out regularly, and as she “modeled” several items, it became apparent that her strong inner “sensual and sexy” fashionista called for clothes that fit her perfectly, like a second skin. This “tigress” needed to get started with great basics first.

A Visit To The Vintage Martini!
For some fantastic timeless drama, we headed over to the Vintage Martini! The fabulous Ken Weber and Greg Kelly co-own this va va voom treasure; it’s won Best of D Magazine for the past two years. The boutique specializes in designer vintage wear and recent pieces by high end designers such as: Chloe, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Alexander McQueen!

“Dynasty Diva”?
Why can’t Kelly see the potential in this “sassy” eighties sparkler??? (hee hee)

Finding “Mr. Right”!
After we scored her perfect ensemble, time to finish our adventure with the inimitable Paul Neinast, we are all excited! The brilliantly wonderful Paul Neinast – NeinastSalon.com. Paul is a luxury Dallas Hair and Make-Up Stylist. He’s been working with upscale and celebrity clientele for over forty years and is launching the exclusive Neinast product collection! I am particularly ADDICTED to his Colour-In Shampoo; this wondrous creation is a combination of his Moisturizing Shampoo and color pigments that incredibly invigorate hair color and condition in between appointments. Simply apply to freshly washed hair, leave in for five to thirty minutes (thirty minutes is my routine) and rinse. Make sure you head over to Paul’s facebook page to stay in the know of all the latest and greatest!
It’s A Hairy Adventure!
Paul “diagnosed” Kelly’s hair as faded with unbecoming brassy hi-lights. He chose a vibrant chocolate brown hair color to accent her skin and eye color; Paul says, “Chocolate tones thicken hair”! Paul beautifully beveled Kelly’s locks a la Vidal Sassoon, then after blow drying, he set them with velcro rollers for fullness.
In 1974, Paul spent one marvelous month in San Francisco working one on one with Vidal!
Paul’s Makeup Magic!
Paul gave Kelly a spectacular new look with smoked smudged eyes hi-lighted by soft rose colored cheeks and lips in tangerine for summer.

The “Judges” React!
Seeing Kelly’s precious family gasp and happy as she is revealed so made our day!!!
Finale!
Doesn’t she look “grand”?! The purrfectly fitted vintage forties dress projects drama and timeless style accented with this highly collectible Judith Leiber belt. Dounley, my intern, “uncovered” the lovely Leiber also at the Vintage Martini!

Sassy and HOT Mama!
Thank YOU so much Beautiful Kelly Coughlin Bennett, you are incredible! Paul and I give many thanks to Rosa Nichols, our Diva Director, and Jonah Gilmore and Jason D. Gilmore of Studio Rocket Science so rocked video along with Jean Patrick Mahoney! Thank you, Shantelle and William Dounley! much ♥ !!!
